Page 3. Setup
First unzip the archive named PCBWAT40.ZIP into a directory where
you are going to run PCBwatch from. This directory should be for
PCBwatch only.
Next all you have to do is run the PCBWCNF utility to create the
PCBWATCH.CFG file. This utility will allow you to set PCBWATCH up
for your system. Here is an explanation of what each line of the
config means.
Line 1: Your Name Goes Here
Line 2: Your Serial Number ( Use Any Numbers If Unregistered )
Line 3: Name & Location Of Your USERNET.DAT File
Line 4: Location Of Your PCBNDX Files
Line 5: Name & Location Of Your Users File
Line 6: Name & Location Of Your Caller Log Files
Line 7: Location Of Your Node Chat Files
Line 8: Name & Location Of The PCBwatch Caller Database
Line 9: Name & Location Of The PCBwatch Log File
Line 10: Name & Location Of The PWRD File
Line 11: Name & Location Of A Menu Defintion File You Want To Use
Line 12: Location Of A PCBoard.dat you want to use
Line 13: Location Of Where The PCBwatch Files Are Stored
Line 14: Name And Location Of The PCBSTATS.DAT
Once you are in PCBWCNF there are a few things you will need
to know before you get started. Once PCBWCNF is loaded you see the
first ten lines of the PCBWATCH.CFG file. They are preceded by a
description of each line. To edit a line just hit the appropriate
function key for the line you want to edit. To edit the other lines
that are in the configuration file then press page down. To save
your data then hit escape.
- Available Keys In PCBWCNF
F1 - F10 - Edits The Field You Are In
PageUp - Edits The First 10 Lines Of The Config File
PageDown - Edits The Last Lines Of The Config File
ESC - Writes Data To File
Shift F1 - Pops Up A Help Screen
Shift F2 - Pops Up An Explantion Screen For The Lines Of The
PCBWATCH.CFG file
Once you have done this you may run PCBCALR which creates a
definition file for you that it finds in the PCBWATCH.CFG or you
may give it a new name. This file will contain a list of the
callers that you would like to search for. If any of these
users are found then PCBwatch will alert you of there logon.
Next you can now run PCBwatch.
In the registered version you can have a sysop definable menu
which is defined in a file that you create. This file can be
created with the utility called PCBMDEF. This will allow you
to create your menu with ease.
Page 4. PCBMDEF documentation & Registration Information
PCBMDEF is a utility to create a defintion file to be used
with PCBwatch v4.0 This will allow you to create a menu to be
used in PCBwatch via the F8 key. You can run the utility but your
menu will only work in the registered version of PCBwatch.
- Running PCBMDEF
Because PCBwatch v4.0 allows you to have multiple definition
files you must run the PCBMDEF program in the following fashion:
PCBMDEF PCBWATCH.DEF
If the PCBWATCH.DEF or another name that you pass to it is not found
then PCBMDEF will create it.
PCBWATCH.DEF is a sample definition file you may replace it with
any legal dos filename.
Once you are in PCBMDEF there are a few things you will need
to know before you get started. The Editing starts out by editing
the descriptions of the F1-F10 keys you can tell that by looking
at the line 3 and you will see DESCRIPTIONS on the upper left corner
of the screen. At this time if you hit any of the F1 - F10 keys you
will edit their description. When you want to edit the command line
for the F1 - F10 keys hit TAB and then when you hit any of the
F1 - F10 keys you will be editing the command line for the F1 - F10
keys. If you end up editing the wrong field HIT enter with nothing
typed in the field and your original will be restored. If you want
to edit the ALT F1-F10 hit PageDown and then use the above procedure
to edit those keys. When you want to return to the F1-F10 keys hit
PageUp. When you are all finished you will be asked for a title
name. This title will be centered at the top of your window. If you
hit enter then it will default to the current title that is already
there. For example if you have already made a menu and you are
just changing a few things and the menu was NETWORK UTILITIES and
you hit enter the title will still be NETWORK UTILITIES.
- Available Keys In PCBMDEF

TAB - Switches Between Definitions And Command Lines
PageUp - Switches Between ALT F1-F10 Keys And F1-F10 Keys
PageDown - Switches Between F1-F10 Keys And ALT F1-F10 Keys

Registration for PCBwatch v4.0 costs $25.00 and when you have
registered PCBwatch then you will receive a Serial number that
you will place in your PCBWATCH.CFG at line #2 and this will
register it to you and then the delays will be eliminated and
the beg screen will be eliminated also. Along with the above
that you receive you also get one year of Free updates and
Support via Voice or L & L BBS.

Page 8. Interfacing PCBwatch Into PCBoard
To interface PCBwatch into PCBoard 14.5x on the caller waiting
screen. Normally PCBMoni is ran from the caller waiting screen
but now PCBwatch can be ran from here also. To do this follow
the instructions below.
Step 1: Rename PCBwatch.exe to PCBMONI.EXE and place it
in your path.
Step 2: Next place your configured PCBWATCH.CFG file into
each of your nodes directorys.
Step 3: Use MKTXT145.EXE to edit make the necessary
changes in your PCBtext file. The record numbers
you need to change are:
515
---
Old Text : PCBMoni
New Text : PCBwatch
530
---
Old Text : Run PCBMoni to monitor node activity
New Text : Run PCBwatch to monitor node activity
Now when you are at the caller waiting screen you can run
PCBwatch instead of having to run it from dos.
